Application Window for VPI Membership is Open Until September 15, 2023

August 2, 2023 •

The Voluntary Principles Initiative (VPI) is currently receiving new Membership applications. Organizations interested in becoming a VPI Member need to submit their applications in writing by September 15, 2023.

Applications are assessed during two annual windows, in March and September of each year, and are reviewed by the VPI Steering Committee, in consultation with Members. Applications received after the due date will be assessed in the following cycle. Please note that the typical successful application process takes at least 6 months from window close date to acceptance.

As a VPI Member, your organization will have opportunities to engage with like-minded organizations, gain access to training and peer learning opportunities, and collaborate with other Members to address security-related human rights challenges around the world. VPI Members will also have access to exclusive content such as industry updates, expert-led webinars, and events.

To be considered for VPI Membership, an applicant must demonstrate that they meet the entry criteria for the category they are applying to — Corporate, Government, NGO, or Observer. Please submit the application to the VPI Secretariat by email at applications@voluntaryprinciples.org. For more information, including the admission process and the entry criteria for each category, please refer to the links below.

At this time, the VPI welcomes applications from governments; producer-level companies operating in the extraction of oil, gas, minerals and metals, as well as growers of palm oil; and NGOs working in these areas.
