Year in Review: VPI Activities Report 2025-2026

April 29, 2026 •

The Voluntary Principles Initiative (VPI) is pleased to release the Activities Report, offering a look back at some of the Initiative’s key achievements from April 2025 to March 2026. It highlights the efforts made in advancing the VPI’s strategic objectives, including strengthening the Initiative’s global profile and leadership, and supporting the on-the-ground implementation of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).

Over the past year, the VPI remained active across global and multi-stakeholder platforms, including participation in a mission to Mozambique, engagement in international dialogue such as the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), and collaboration with industry associations such as Ipieca, World Gold Council, and the Cobalt Institute. At the country level, the VPI continued to support implementation of the Voluntary Principles through its network of VPI and Partner In-Country Working Groups (ICWGs). This included a training program in Ghana to address human rights risks linked to illegal mining, as well as strengthened regional coordination in Latin America through a dedicated LATAM group.

Details on these activities and other highlights can be found in the full report below. We look forward to another year of impactful work with our Members, Observers, and key stakeholders.

About the Voluntary Principles

The Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights are an internationally recognized set of principles that guide companies on how to conduct their security operations while ensuring respect for human rights. To promote implementation of the Principles, the Voluntary Principles Initiative (VPI) was created. The Initiative comprises over 75 Members and Observers including companies, governments, and non-governmental organizations that share best practices and mutually support the implementation of the Principles.
